CARMEL GALLERY LAUNCHES POOLPAINTINGS.COM SITE DEDICATED TO NEW YORK ARTIST ARTHUR ROBINS’ BILLIARD SERIES
Exhibitor at International Billiard Expo, April 1-3 Las Vegas, Nevada

LAS VEGAS, NV April 1, 2004 - New York artist Arthur Robins who has had his paintings shown at the John McEnroe Gallery in Soho and who in 1993 was one of the founding member of A.R.T.I.S.T., a group that successfully litigated a Federal landmark case extending the First Amendment right of free speech to artists and fine art, will for the first time exhibit his work at the annual Billiards Congress of America Expo taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada April 1-3.

Gallery Diamante in Carmel, CA, the parent company of POOLPAINTINGS.COM, opened 10-months ago showcasing the "Expressionist" paintings of New York Artist Arthur Robins. Considering the typical Carmel fair, and the fact that much of Robins' work covers genre as varied and eclectic as city-subway scenes to biblical paintings. The owners Phillip and Dianne Chavez felt that it was imperative to be able to reach a market outside of Carmel and to be able to offer reproductions. Online shoppers will be able to purchase posters and limited edition prints as well as the original oils that will also be offered for sale at POOLPAINTINGS.COM.

Five original oils will be shown at the Expo, plus number one of two-hundred-and-fifty (1/250) of a signed limited edition print "The Last Shot" will be on display and donated for an auction to benefit the Billiards Education Foundation Scholarship Program at the national Eight-Ball Championship that will be held the following month at the Riviera Hotel, May 14-22.

"Robin's depictions of pool players include an environment - the pool parlor and its denizens. Often from overhead, he pictures the players in the act of shooting. His knowledge of this game informs the player's positions and ball formations. The two - players and balls - are the most prominent elements in these depictions. The distorted angles used by the artist are echoed in the angle of the pool players' shots. The geometry of the game as well as the players' concentration are translated into a painting suggesting the intensity of a moment." Judy Collischan, PH.D Neuberger Museum, New York
