ARTHUR ROBINS, PRIVATE GAME

PRIVATE GAME, 1996

This painting is a study on pool games that go on behind closed doors, for big money. I wanted to depict the subtle intensity of such games as well as a character study of these types of people. I find that their motives, the people sponsoring the games, are in contrast to the shooters, who may have more of a conscience than their hardened 'benefactors', but are torn because of their need. It's about the battle between the Spirit and the Flesh.
