ARTHUR ROBINS, POOL HUSTLER

POOL HUSTLER, 1993

The painting "Pool Hustler" was the first pool painting I ever painted. It was done in honor of my close friend Fred Schuback, who was a brilliant artist and an awesome pool player. Fred appeared to be weak, unkempt and feeble. But when he chalked a cue stick, he beat the pants off of most players, much to their shock and amazement. He told me that he hustled these guys, not for the money, but to see the expression on their faces when he beat them. He died in 1991 by mysterious circumstances. After painting this in his memory, pool and billiard paintings and drawings started pouring out of me, much to MY shock and amazement. I owe a lot of it to Fred.
